I often consider when does an organisation get the opportunity to start thinking team over profit? For me, the soft skills are the hardest to harness and organisations that take the time and effort to support the development of key soft skills, such as trust, relationship building, respectful dealings – that is when they will start to see opportunities converted to business and increased revenue. Developing a culture of skill building can often be harder than the engineering projects many of our clients organisations undertake.
In a report by Deloitte called Alternative Thinking, they raised the concern that in the renewable energy sector, Soft Skills tend to be underdeveloped. They highlight that management and staff need better teaming and engagement skills as much as engineering and project management capability in order to underpin performance.
